Well I don't know that I would handle him now that he has eaten - but in 48 hours you might try holding him and letting him crawl through a damp towel a couple times. That helps remove a bad shed.

When you say he isn't shedding to well do you mean its coming off in pieces?

I try to soak my snakes when I notice they are going to shed. That's mainly because I live in the desert, but it also helps soften and loosen the shed skin. Do this also if they have pieces stuck on them, just soak and gently rub the skin off.

That was going to be my answer.

soak him a few times

Sheds will get better as time goes by, you can't go from crap to perfect.

Yeah if there's really that much skin on, full body soaking is really needed here.

so just soak him in some warm water then?

Yes. Give him a daily soak in tepid water. 20 or 30 minutes a day will do wonders for him.

Also, FYI - I mean no disrespect and it is a very common mistake, but the common boas that we are all so crazy about are Colombians, not Columbians.

Good luck with him.

More like tepid water.....not warm but not cold....should be around the high 70s to low 80s for water temperature.....don't want to boil him/her either.

Ive not come across anything that works better than a good soak. For cases where we have gotten in a rescue with layers and layers of bad shed, we have used baby oil with good results.

I would say soak it if it is that bad. But I would recommend bumping the humidity up more with either Moss or Jungle Bed in a bowl next time they are in shedding.. I have said that you could have some Jungle Bedding that I have and use that.. I have used that with success as well as Sphagnum Moss in a bowl.. All my sheds are 100% perfect one piece sheds...
