I got a lightscribe dvd burner, and its so damn cool, but the dvd's that i burn, will not play in my dvd player, ps2, or anything, but regular dvd-r's play fine in both, any ideas on how to make these things work, because they're so bad ass, thanks for any help anyone can give me

What software are you using to create the DVD? are you converting the files or are you just taking the avi or mpeg file and putting it on the dvd?

The lightscribe disks use a new optical technology. Not many DVD players will play these disks. From what I have read, Phillips DVP642 plays most anything. Chances are, you will have the same problem with the ps2 because it is older.

I dont know what burner you have. I picked one up about 8 months ago and I havd the same problem. I use "Neroburn" and everything works great. However, the staement about some of the older players, you may have trouble playing them but the newer players are good to go. But agian, Nero burn is the software to use. Hope this helped. BTW, hit me up and I will upload it for you if you want.

What software are you using to convert and write the dvd's onto the disk with?
Also, check your speeds for your burner and the mode for writing with your burner. Such as DVR D L or DVR R L.

I used Nero for years but I found one that writes ten times faster and converts faster and you can purchase it off the internet or use the trial version. It's called BURN4FREE, The cd writing software is free and they have several other software applications and the bundle they have for sale includes all the software packages and disk. It's really very cheap actually and I've been using BURN4Free for years.

Burn4Free CD and DVD is a burning solution that's compatible with more
than 3,000 DVD and CD burners. Burn data and audio from different file
types (WAV, WMA, MP3, OGG, FLAC, WavPack, and CDA). Burn and save ISO
files, open and save your project to disk, verify content, print
compilations, copy DVDs, and import your audio compilation from M3U
and ASX playlists. The drives supported include dual-layer DVD, CD-R,
CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM (SCSI, IDE, EIDE, and
USB 1.0 and 2.0). Version 3.7 added some improvements and optimizations.
Note: This download installs additional Internet Explorer toolbar that
can be uninstalled separately at any time from within the browser.

As I said before - this has to do with the actual disks - they use a more advanced optical technology, that isn't read by older devices. Your burning method is fine, as you said when you burn normal disks your player has no trouble reading them. This only has to do with the actual disk - not how you burned it. Hope that helps!:)
