I went to the pet store the other day and I was looking for another red blood python. The guy there said that they would prob. not have any in because of some law that said they can't import them anymore or something...I didn't pay much attention to him after he told me they weren't getting anymore but I thought that it was odd that there is a law out there to keep from selling them.
Can someone tell me if they have heard this yet?

With as many good captive bred bloods there are out there why would you want a WC one? Red bloods are not on the Cites I appendix list so unless some country stoped exporting their local wildlife we will have wild cought bloods avalible. But there are some pretty good looking ones for sale for 100 bones plus shipping on the classifieds section right here on this forum! I'd take male #4 if I were going to buy one!

I agree with Chuck, I would definitely be looking for a captive Bred specimen of these, especially with all the problems of imports with these guys.
Your source was partially right though, but I believe it's only Malaysia that has closed it borders....they are still coming in from Sumatra I believe...could the other way around, point is they will still be coming for awhile yet.

It is not that I really wanted an import but the curiosity of what he had said about them not coming in anymore. After what happened with my last one that I got from that pet store they are lucky I even bought Gurl from them. I would definately go with one Jordan has up for sale but not right at this moment in time...I will have to wait.:( But when we get more up on our feet I am defiantely wanting another one.

You cannot get them out of Malaysia anymore, and here are regulaton by numbers coming out of Sumatra. But there still being imported readily. I've heard people tell me this before but just to try and convince me what they were selling wasn't a WC. They were wrong though. If this is your first I would definately reccomend against farmed animals.

Well my first one died about 10 days after I got him from the pet store. and he was probably a WC one but he was the sweetest he never hissed and wasn't nippy. and I had gotten him because he just looked so sweet sitting in the tank they had him in and a few days later I relized that there might be a problem. when he wouldn't eat for me I sent him over with Chuck and he still didn't make it. Not sure what was wrong with him but I said I would not buy another snake from them. Though we did buy our ball python Gurl from them but we haven't had any problems with her.

Imported snakes usually go through alot and in general they just get resold as quickly as possible. Some people do check them out and make sure they are eating and healthy before they leave. However alot just sell whatever they get in and I've seen some with the mouths almost rotted out and various other discrepencies. This doesn't just apply to bloods by any means. Bloods tend to be fairly non conforming to ever changing conditions that usually occur in a long trip and dont do that great though. Which is just one of the many reasons to get CBB animals.
