Do you want a run down of everything? Or are you having a certain issue?

Get ahold of Jordan on forum here....he's been doing a great job of producing some real stunners.

I only recently acquired this species, and while I know the logistics behind it, I haven't done it so won't be much help to ya.

Well not to be put on the spot or anything!!! jk

I don't think breeding these is really any different than any other snake. I'm still toying with my own ideas and there are alot of other people doing the complete opposite with results just that are as good. Previously I had been taking off feed in late November and cooling but just down to mid seventies and still using a hot spot of high seventies. Just left the animals together for a few months and then around march started to heat up again. Waited a bit then separated and put them back on feed. I also raise the humidity level around 7% or so. Occasionally I do mist them as well but it just depends. I have been consistently producing animals this way but not quite in the percentile I was hoping. Again this was the easy not so involved method.

I know of others that do not even cool their animals and just change their daylight cycle. I don't have a direct light source in my cages so this wouldn't work out well for me. However others have used this with great success. Some people also breed them year round, but I'm not sure exactly what there methods are. These snakes will screw regardless, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will produce eggs.

This season is somewhat experimental and I'm not sure how its going to end up. I typically care for my animals more by individual reaction and needs rather than specific schedules and such. I'm housing them separately and then introducing. After they loose interest I separate them and drop the temps a few degrees, wait a week or so and then reintroduce. They will also have a couple meals somewhere in there. This year I have the capability of producing more clutches too, about 6 pairs have been copulating, so it will be interesting to see just how many viable clutches I get.

Again I think any typical method for breeding med to large sized pythons will work fine with these too. I can't say I'm an expert just yet, give me thirty more years or so..

thanks you so much for the info. i guess when they say breeding Bloods = Jordan it would be just like basketball = JORDAN #23 jk:D

a few more if you don't mind,

- do you incubate the eggs or let the mom do her thing???

- what are the approximate weights that would tell when nthey might be ready to breed?

- how much do these weights differ between bloods to short tails or at least between the 3 spp. of bloods?

thanks in advance!

Hey man, not a bad thing!

J- No maternal incubation! You CAN do it but I wouldn't suggest it. Keep your incubator 89-90F and 90% humidity

Males should be atleast 10 lbs and females 15 IMO. I have a couple females just over 15 lbs going this year and I'm even a little leary on that. There is a big difference between a 25 lbs girl laying and a 15 especially for these shorties. Another thing is age, usually you will not get very good luck until 3 yrs. It's not like balls where you can feed the Cr@p out of them and breed them at 12 mo.

Not much difference between the species though. Honestly I don't really think they very in size that much in captivity. You could probably subtract a few lbs for animals that ran on the smaller size though, but i wouldn't vary much.

thanks for the replies. i ask cuz even though I am in asia (and we're sooo near borneo), the herp hobbyists here are still not very succesful with breeding this specie in theseparts. i was thinking that perhaps they doing something wrong...
