OK so I decided that Oscar needed his paper changed tonight so I busted out the camera and got a few shots of him. He is one of the best behaved rattlers I have seen in a cage. however he thinks every time the cage opens he is getting fed. Maybe because the only time it opens there is 90% of the time a mouse going in. But he hooks well and dosn't give much of a fight. Anyhoo here are a few of the pics I snaped. I have some of his fangs soaking in water that I have collected over a few poos. They should be cleaned up in the morning and I will get pics of them and post tomorrow!

I had already removed the coconut hide.

I guess that all depends on your definition of small.....

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/chuck_33/hot%20snakes/HPIM2502.jpg

He has to curle up on top of himself to fit in the hide. But it is good and secure for him. And easy for me to get in and out with a hook. So it will stay till he can't fit in it anymore.

Thanks guys!

Yes, Chuck, I have seen this pic before . . . And while he may be a good size for a rattler, he's small compared to other snakes! ;) But he is little cutie. I wish I could keep one here . . . Oh, well, I'll just enjoy your pics! :p

P.S. More feeding videos would be great . . . ;)

Aaah I see sorry my rattler ID stinks, we only have one kind to look at here in Colorado! Lol. Of course I should know my diamondbacks, hence the diamonds, eh? :-) He'll be a big'un when he's all grown up!

Aaah I see sorry my rattler ID stinks, we only have one kind to look at here in Colorado! Lol.

There are actually 2 in Colorado. I have seen them both when I was living in Colorado Springs in the Army. There is the prarie rattler (Crotalus viridis) and the massasauga (Sistrurus catenatus). But the latter is only found in the south eastern grasslands down by Durango going into Farmington, NM. and what not. But for the most part your right. Only one species you will run into.

Thanks everyone. He has been a blast to have and a real eye opener into keeping hots and rattlesnakes in general.
