Hey guys,

To anyone that uses Heat Panels maybe you guys can help me out.

I will be ordering one this week for my burm to raise some ambient temps. This is not my first Heat Panel I have one for my Retic and one for my GTP.

Now in the burms cage I will be stacking another cage on top of it. The issue I have with the heat panels are the screws they give you to mount the Heat Panel to the top of the cage. It sticks out the top of the cage about half an inch give or take and would not allow me to stack the other cage on top of it.

Is there a way you can cut these screws? Or put something on the top of the cage to raise the other stacked cage up?

And on a side note I will be stacking a T5 on top of a T25. Has anyone had an issue with stacking AP cages, more importantly those of different sizes.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

I have stacks of AP's, all with heat panels. If you get some gromets you can counter sink them in the top of the cage to make them flush. If you would like I can get a picture of the gromets on my cages. You dont want to put any space between the cages if possible because its going to act like a bridge and cool the bottom of the cage. i had that problem when I built stands for my cages and didnt have a top on the stand so it left the bottom of the bottom cages exposed with a 7 degree difference from all the other cages.

As far as stacking goes, I don't have any problems.

This is a good point.

I was entertaining that idea for some time, but didn't know if there was a different way.

I think that with a smaller screw it would slide through the holes in the heat panel.....who knows.

Take one of the mounting screws with you when you go. Trust me with all the sizes and types available you should have no trouble finding a screw with the same sized head....just shorter.

Of course if you have an angle grinder laying around you can always zip off the tips that way as well....Dremal Tool with a cutting disk works equally well.

I also had this issue, and 1 1/2" worked perfect

Hey Man Thanks a Ton!!

Don't sweat it on the time factor either.

Now I am slightly confused about the gromets. Does the heat panel screw into the gromet pulling it snug against the top of the cage? Or does it twist into the panel?

And do the screws come with the gromets?

Thanks again man, this will be helpful to a lot more people I assume.
