well my burmese pyton hasnt ate in about 6 weeks and she finally sheded.I bought her a guinea pig and she dosnt pay attention to it.The previous owner has only fed her rabbits and chickens,so my question is....is the scent of guinea pig and rabbit a lot different?is this why she wont eat it?I always heard that burms are really oportunistic eaters and will grab anything, but hey you guys are the experts so thanks.

Well I have to say....when it comes to Burmese Pythons (at least the ones I've had) I've actually found them to be rather fussy when it comes to food items. Granted I don't think that's true for all of them (but it's been true for everyone I have owned save 1) At anyrate if the previous owner had her on Rabbits probably would be a good thing to keep her on Rabbit, it'll save you from having to switch back again once she outgrows the G.Pigs anyway.
Scents of prey items vary greatly, which is why you'll get a feeding response from one type of prey, and no response from others.

I would keep the Burm on rabbits. But if you are trying to use up leftover feeders then I would thaw a G. pig and a small xxsm rabbit out together. Like put the G. pig down and the rabbit over it until they both are warm completely then try it. I have been doing this to switch my Retic from Rats to rabbits but I actually give her the rat over the rabbit and they both end up gone.

I know I dont like to feed live for obiouse reason but I have a burm now im trying to switch. My advise if your lot leaving it in real long is to put the burm in a smaller box if possible, grab a beer, and a chair and sit back. Sometimes it takes a while if they are being stuborn. ALL of my burms are fussy eaters and I even have one who is off feed right now.
