My step daughter lives in McCall Id and her friend has 2 rtb an d they are both weezing pretty bad I told her that they needed to take them to the vet and none of the vets there will see them because they are so big and she was wondering what they could possibly give them from "over the counter" to get them well.

The snakes are in a wooden cage of some kind. No known heat source that she knows of and no humidity at all.

any help would greatly be appriciated.

Of course, I would recommend finding a vet that will see them, we have used Tylan 200 with great success with some rescues we have taken in. It can be purchased from any Feed Store, or even online through a pet med place (no rx necessary).

Another option is if the vets won't take them....you may be able to get them to write out a prescription for an online pharmacy.....though the way it sounds the snakes need to be moved somewhere were they can recieve better treatment.....pumping them full of drugs isn't going to help much if they don't get into the proper environment.

poor snakes, hopefully this gets worked out, maybe they should get online and learn how to take care of their boas in the first place

My thoughts exactly! I talked to my stepdaughter agian today about the snakes and really pushed the issue of finding a vet even if they had to travel to see one. Evidently this guy has had them for 6 or 7 years and has them in a wooden cage that he built for them and on the front he has some screen door like things. And he keeps and light in the cage and a blanket over it to hold the heat in. I told her for him to take the light out of the cage so that hopefully they would get burned trying to say warm. Then on top of it I found out that he has both of them plus a carpet python in it with them. I told her that they needed to be separated into different inclosures before they are all really sick. It is hard for me to be able to stress the point of a heat source for them because all she tells me is ok ok if maybe I was in Idaho and not in Texas maybe I would be more helpful to her.

Hmmmmm well I can see a whole list of things wrong with that picture, I'm actually surprised they have lasted 7 years like that, bound to catch up with them sooner or later I guess.
Well hopefully she'll take your advice....or he'll take your daughters advice.

Same thought here...the owner needs to learn how to properly meet the needs of their animal, or vet visits and medicine will be sort of pointless. Have them to read this...

That is thee best care guide I've ever seen for boas and the most detailed.
Now then, they can ask about Tylan at a veterinary supply. Raise their ambient temps in the cage and decrease humidity (take out the water bowl after offering water a couple of hours every day)
Oh and dosage amounts for a boa constrictor in relation to Tylan is listed here with a nifty little dosage calculator.

i just think maybe this guy doesnt need to own snakes, just my opinion, its sad that people would own a pet and never learn how to properly care for it, but it happens all the damn time

you are right I gave them the web site addresses hopefully the will get on the net and get on here or look up the information on the one Robbin gave never know with my daughter though and I know she is snake smart she lived here long enough to know what they need and don't need and she knows how to look up the info herself but I know she is calling me for reassureance my problem is I know lots about ball pythons and not alot on RTB's even mine has been with my brother since the weekend aftee I bought him. but while he is there I am doing some research on him so when he comes home I will know what he needs and what not.

so hopefully they will call me and tell me that everything has worked out and I hope that they actually take the snake to the vet somewhere up there..

That guide is really thorough and I just know if they read it and take it to heart that boa will be much better off Sa55y. **fingers crossed**
