Nice!
I do believe you are the first one who can claim rescues of wild Carpets! LOL
Looks like the one in the cage had a snack and couldn't get back out..LOL

Yes, that snake was my wifes Galah (kind of parrot...pink & Grey)
My wife was open minded enough to accept that it was nature and let me take the snake back in to the bush. All that bird could ever say was "hello" and "let me out!". All that I could think at the time was the poor bird in the snakes belly saying.....let me out!....let me out!
This experience actually got me into keeping snakes and because we live near a creek and back onto the bushland, our neighborhood gets a visit from the local wildlife from time to time and I am known as the local snake nutter :der: so instead of paying $60. for a snake catcher, they knock on my door first.

I'll try and get a few pix. Because they are so common here I never think to photograph them. I have a pic of the Blue tongue that I rescued from the dog the other week, I'll see what geckos come out tonight. Unfortunately I only have film, so I have to wait for it to be developed. I should get a digital camera:pout:

Here are some more pix of a rescued Python. This little bloke I affectionately refer to as "Stumpy" because he has lost part of his tail. Stumpy found his way into the neighbors house and coiled up amongst his fishing gear. I picked Stumpy up and took him home and I fed him two thawed rats (yes! wild snakes do eat pre-killed rats) and he spent the night with me watching TV and the next day I released him into the bush. That snake was so easy going that I suspected that he may have been someones pet at some stage, but I doubt it.

Last night I rescued a baby python from our dog. Lately we had a lot of wild life in our back yard. Blue Tongue lizards, a big Green Tree Frog, a Red Belly Black Snake and Geckos. I have some photos to get developed and I'll post some pix soon.:photo:

You have got to be the envy of everyone on these forums. I'd give anything to live in Austrailia and have the opportunity to see all these animals in the wild.

I'm in a fortunate position here. Our property backs on to 50 or 100 acres of DPI property and we have a creek in our back yard. Though the snakes do love the built up areas. The local snake catcher rescued a 6foot Python from inside the Myer center, thats in the heart of the city.:eek:I know it's not New York, but it's still a buzzing metropolis.

With people come rats....LOL Every year civilization gets closer and closer to the wilds, I imagine we'll be hearing more stories like this as time moves fourth. The animals that can adapt and survive it will. Still not to often you here about a 6ft python roaming the city unless it was someone's loose pet..LOL

This statement Is so very true!!!
You do a wonderful thing:peace: I know you love the animals. But, Not everyone would do what you do..
I sorry about the Bird.. But, I cracked up when you said. you could image it saying "let me out'' LMAO!!!!

Thanks Jess.:cool:There are a few of us that do the catch and release thing here, some people do it for a full-time job. I never charge a fee to rescue a snake because I enjoy it.:PDT_ivn:The snake guy that I sometimes go to for rats told me that he had to stop a car once to get a Red-belly Black off the road and the driver abused him for it, he wanted to run "the thing" over.:PDT_bud:

GREAT PICS
People are so rude sometimes,, I just don't get it!!:mad:
If you want to get pissed off at someone. Do it because of something they have done to you.. Not because of an animal..
It is like the people at abuse animals. Pick on something your own size!!!
No an animal.. Fine a bar & start a fight in there,,,:tape2::typing:
I will quite now.. It just bugs me!!

I agree Jess, some people don't know what adorable creatures snakes really are, they still think of them as villains.:PDT_mad3:

Nice pictures, I spent a semester up in Townsville, visited Brisbane for a few days, I love it there! My friends showed me carpets they rescued around campus. Too bad about the Galah, I would be sad if it was mine, even though I love snakes! Lol. But you guys have about a zillion of them over there, right, you could get another? :-) I heard they are often exterminated as an agricultural pest. That makes me pretty sad, they're pretty birds.

Yeah, there are a lot of Galahs over here, but my wife is more interested in getting a Cocatiel (smaller parrot like bird). I'm glad to hear that you made the trip over here, I'd love to get out and see more myself.:PDT_bud:
