FINALLY!!! I got my baby blood python. we got her ( i think) yesterday. she is about 3 -4 weeks old. she's the cutest thing ive ever seen. she does have a retained eye cap, but we'll soak her and get it off. we got her for such a deal. pretty much for free, from a friend that works at a pet store. they got their snakes from a local breeder. im just happy to have her in my little family. her name is Hex which will work if she is a male too. here are some pics of her.http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b07263394c8.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=947)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b0727139b49.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=948)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b0727e65b3b.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=949)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b0728ae39a1.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=950)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b072973cb78.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=951)

I noticed this morning while i was taking these pictures that she looks like she has some scarring on her belly. i dont know if it was scale rot or if it was a superficial heat burn. there are two scales on the area that are brown and dried up, and there are dark lines inbetween the scales in the area. its not a big area, and it does look old. we are gonna keep an eye on it. she doesnt show any signs of it hurting her, when i touch it. these pics are not very clear, so ive circled the area. if you can see it at all and have an idea what it may be, it would be greatly appreciated. thanx guys. happy herping!!http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b0736fb2205.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=952)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b07450afaf7.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=953)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b074645d87b.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=954)http://myreptileplanet.com/imagehosting/thum_14847b074725ce51.jpg (http://myreptileplanet.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=955)

Congrats on the new blood!

I was looking through the pictures....and on the fourth one it would seem to be just a vertical line? If so what you are seeing is where the snake was hooked up to the yolk sack in the egg.....kind of like a belly button...LOL, at anyrate this belly button will disappear over time usually by the time they are 6 months of age.

Yup I agree with Guru I think that is just her snakie belly button! My baby blood had a grey spot and little vertical line between a few scales just like that.

She is gorgeous btw! Congrats.

omg i didnt think of that!! i guess u really do learn something new everyday. thanx for the info. ya know how "mama's" get, we're always worried about something. lol. ya she's a sweetheart. im sticking w/ the female theroy right now. she yawned for me this morning so i got to see her pretty pink mouth. Oh, i almost forgot, can anyone tell me from our pics if she is a borneo or a sumaritan??

we got our baby burm when she was 3 weeks old and i never noticed any "bellybutton" on her. so this was a learning experience. thanx everyone.

Its a sumatran, and I do concur just looks like a belly button spot. Should fall off after awhile, just leave it alone and keep the cage humid. Best of luck with your new little blood, let us know if you have any questions.

Well, your off to a good start with Jordan here to help with your new blood. He's who i was referred to when I had questions on them. He was very helpful. :D

Congrats!!, and thats what it is, a belly button, lol. As long as there is no big solid lump there it will dissipate over time and be nothing more than a shear looking line. Everyonce and a while, you get ahradened yolk in a babies belly. But typically those dont do well because of the the blockage. So you should be fine, just thought I'd mentioned the part about hardened yolk for general knowledge. :)
