Just bought a brb. have the lil guy in a 10 gal. for now with a 75 whatt heatlight over a large water bowl.the other side is covered with plastic to help keep in humidity, temp is 77-80 on the cool side. im just worried about the humidity .should i put another bowl of water on the cool side with controlled belly heat under the water bowl ? and whats a fullproof setup for when i put him in a 4ft boaphile enclosure. oh, the basking side is at 87-88 deg. any input would be greatly appr.he is a beutiful lil fella, get some pics out soon.

Looks like your temps. are spot on. As for a fool-proof setup....LOL, not sure if there is such a thing! LOL Any of the PVC type cages will definitely help when dealing with this high humidity loving species, for heating again since these are a cool running snake I suggest a radiant heat panel, hooked up to an adjustable thermostat.
The one thing is, you don't want to do is keep these constantly wet either because they will develop skin blisters. One thing you may want to try, that I always found helpful is a humidified shelter, now a days a very easy thing to get....in fact 2 companies both ZooMed and Exo-Terra now make them, they basically look like a rock, with a removable top, the inside can have damp peat moss, or dampened papertowels added to the inside creating a high humidity hide hut....but still allowing for other places in the cage where the snake can dry off as well.

I keep my peruvian rainbows at a low of 72 and a high (MAX) 82. They like cooler climates than most boas. Like Brad said, you can get a humidity hide. I use small steralite containers (Walmart $2.99) that are smoke black with a hole cut in the side and peat moss for bedding. Stays VERY wet for a long time and mold isnt that much of an issue. Until I order 4 T20's from Animal Plastics for my burms, I keep my rainbows in steralite tubs. They can handle very high humidity and seem to have a resistance to blistering. I keep my humidity at around 80% but dont worry at all if it gets to 100%. I will be updating my website with some updated photos soon if you would like to see what im talking about. Hope this helps
Troy mentioned AP cages for his burms...I think they would work great for brb's. I've never had a cage that held humidity better.

I would mount it on the top heat directed down.

I agree. they hold humidity better than anything I have ever used. I am getting my burms the large cages and putting my rainbows in the 4 foot cages.

I know I have posted A LOT of pictures of my cages but here it is agian so you can see what im talking about. You will notice a tan colored panel on the top right of each cage. (You might not be able to see them but they are there) That is the heat panel. The belly heat (optional) is located on the other side. You can have it put where you want but standard is the left side. I highly recommend Animal Plastic cages.
1st 2 pictures are the panel close up

The 4 new cages I am ordering will have the glass doors. A friend of mine has the glass and they hold humidity great. I got the hinged plexi because of the type or size snakes I have. The burms will have glass because they could push the plexi open.
