Full Spectrum Flourescent and a "Puck" light - on a 12/12 cycle.

The Basking platform to left is hollow on the inside and wired up with heat cable top hits 90F
The bottom is perforated lexon with vents so the heat radiates below the shelf as well.

so that little shelf has heat cable underneath it??? i was kinda thinking about stealing the shelf idea from you only making it shorter and putting a bulb over that side for the basking spot, could i enclose the bulb in aluminum mesh or chicken wire or something, or would it get to hot from the bulb, what do you use to wrap around your lights if theyre down in the cage?

Yup I used that Zoomed heat cable and looped around the underside of the shelf, works like a charm! Personally I would go this route instead of the bulb.....it would have to be a very small wattage bulb to keep the shelf around 90 when it's sitting that close to it. Cheaper in the log run to run as well. Basking bulbs work great but you should really have a minimum distance of 18" away from the actual bulb to get an even spread from the beam....to close and you localize your heat to much.

For enclosing bulbs I usually use 1/4'' or 1/2'' galvanized hardware wire (Square Holes) or the Rubbercoated stuff works reall well too. as long as you keep the wire about 2" or so away from the heat source it doesn't get hot enough to cause burns.
