Yeah she wants to say "Hi" alright! LOL

She has this nasty habit of "Test" biting everything to see if she can eat it....no joke, she's bitten hooks, rocks, logs, hide huts, water dishes....LOL

are fwc's deadly, or is just mild venom, i thought it was mild

The Snake Guru

There hasn't been one recorded fatality from a FWC bite, they have mild venom and are rear-fanged much like a hognose snake, though the major difference between the 2 being that Hognoses are very small and FWC can reach 8ft and there for can produce a larger amount of the toxin. Besides which the delivery system is poorly formed so you would basically have to let the snake "chew" on you to get it worked into your blood stream. All that said they aren't considered dangerous, though caution should still be exercised. Symptoms reported have included Redness, swelling, minor pain, numbness and nausea....nothing to substantial, though there is always the risk of an allergic reaction (again non reported thus far).

Very cute Brad! Nice enclosure. How do you have that large horizontal log in the back set up? does it have a leg stand, or is it just supported by the glass sides?

Thank ya!
The 2 legs in the front support most of it. The backsection lays across the ledge of the hide so it keeps it more at a horizontal position.

Looks good bro!! But "DANGER VENOMOUS"??? WTF??? LOL

You're such a pain! RFLOL
I have tags like that on any "Technical" venomous snake, each tag has a rating from 1-4 (1 being FWC "warm" and so on) LOL

Wow! I can't believe I missed this thread!

Awesome setup Brad! I know you said once that FWC are very active and require those larger cages; it certainly looks like she has plenty to keep her busy in there! ;) She can be active and explore everything!

Bah....I'm not worried....I have actually free-handled her....though I always keep a hook within arms reach....she tends to "freak out" for no apparent reason...LOL
