I'm happy to see the little black snakes now and then because they have been dying out from all the Cane Toads.:PDT_minzdr:They eat the Toads and dye from they're poison.:(

But yeah, I love the wildlife so close to me. Not everyone living here in Brisbane is lucky enough to be this close to nature and the city.:D

I've heard you guys have had a real problem with that over the years. For anyone who didn't know the Cane Toad was an introduced species to Australia, and now from lack of natural predators has been over running areas down there, as mentioned they are highly toxic to anything that eats them, usually resulting in death, many species are getting hit by those pests, it is a very sad deal.

By chance do you know if they have found a way to combat this infestation yet? Just figured you being down there you may heard something before us.

No, they are as much of a pest that they can ever be. There are some ideas but nothing ideal for the situation. The Kneel-back snake however, has developed an immunity to the toads poison and feeds on the small ones and I heard something about the Eastern Brown developing a venom that is affective against them, so perhaps nature will develop a solution quicker than we will.:croc:

Thanks for the comments. I don't mean to make people jealous, but rather share with everyone what amazing creatures we have here.:PDT_bird:I don't know a lot about the Geckos, except that some of them are introduced from Indonesia. I heard someone refer to them as the "Pink Gecko", but sometimes I see some with spiky tails and I have been told that they are the native Australian ones.

The dogs tried to bail up another Red-belly Black in our back yard, but the little bloke escaped into the rocks in the retaining wall.:peep:
