I've seen Freshwater ones at the petstore - do they get that big too? or just saltwater ones?

They have several differnt kinds of puffers to tell you the truth, though most of the "Mainstream" Petshop varieties are the spotted and Figure 8s which stay around the 4" range, but there are Freshwater puffers that get big...like 12"+ big.

Though the larger ones more commonly seen are the Saltwater ones.
