hey herpers! i just wanted to share the new tanks that my fiance built. he used industrial shelving systems for the frames of the tanks ( an idea we saw that burmluver16 had her tanks made out of) and plywood for the rest. we are using the flexwatt heat tape for heating mats. the snakes really seem to love them. here are some pics of the ongoing process.

the fist tanks shown are for our female and "baby boa" and the one w/ the four tanks is for the balls and our blood. we still have to build the burm tanks but that will wait for warmer weather. we are gonna make those w/ the same design but a hell of a lot more reinforced. we will keep you all updated. and if anyone has any suggestions on design elements, please let us know. thanx.

That's a fine use of some shelving units if I've ever seen one! Thanks for sharing!

I remember seeing the pics of burmlover16's cages, but for some reason it didn't register what they were (sometimes I am slow).
Thanks for posting the pics, another good idea to put in the file:).

That is an awesome idea. I like the use of the shelving as well. 2 quick questions. 1) what did you use to water proof the cage floor? It looks like particle board from the pics and that stuff swells and will fall apart if it gets wet and is aloud to stay wet. 2) are you using the flexwat as belly heat or are you useing a strip of it run down the back of the cage length wise to creat a warm wall if you will?

Looks great!

to answer your questions, 1) at the moment we only have waterproof contact paper down but we are gonna put bathroom lamanet on the walls and floors (likethe stuff u see on shower enclosers). the only problem we are having is finding non toxic sealent or cocking to seal the panels.
and 2) we are using the flexwatt for belly heat. we have the mats on thermostat controlers set for 85. we keep the room at a constant 82, so they are not on too much. just there incase someone wants a warm spot. we only put a foot of it in each small cage and 2 feet of it in the larger cages.
