oooookay. so as most of you know we built new tanks for our snakey family. well ... we are still doing minor adjustments to them here and there, on the inside of the tanks above the doors, there is a lip of wood that the balls can climb up on. i didnt think it would be such a big deal, just something else for them to "play" with. well, Mrs. Bigglesworth( she's like 6 ft) likes to crawl up there. she hasnt realized yet that she is just to big to hang onto that lip, and she comes crashing down everytime. its only an 18 inch drop, but she makes a hell of a thud when she lands. sometimes she lands on her back, belly up.
i was wondering, should i be concerned w/ her dropping that hard quite frequently. could that cause some damage that i cant see on her??.
i know that in the wild, they sometimes just let themselves drop from branches or rocks or whathaveyou. i just want to make sure that these comical events dont end her up in the vet office.

thanx

I am certainly no expert on the matter, but I can't think that it would be good for her. I've always been told that dropping a snake can cause damage to internal organs (including the reproductive organs); I know it isn't that far, but still, I would think that it could possibly cause some issues later on. Just my 2 cents . . . :noidea:

Consistant pounding to her body over a long period of time yes can /will damage her internal organs. Especially is she happens to scoot her water bowl and land on that.
For her .............. cut a piece of wood to fit tightly in the lip and screw and or glue it in place. That should fix her getting into there. ;)

LOL....she'll get the point eventually, I wouldn't worry too much. You think that makes a thud....some nights my 15ft Retic takes a little pop off the top her logs.... about 3ft off the ground....tell ya when the cage is sitting above your head while you are trying to sleep....it sounds like the whole ceiling is going to come crashing down. LOL

Snakes are pretty resilant critters, little drop here and there isn't going to cause her any harm.

Did the first time, I thought for sure she figured out some way to bust out....however unlikely....I still ran upstairs to see what was going on. But there she was with that "What!!??" look on her face.

Now I pretty much sleep through it..LOL
