This things growth rate has been extreme! Never before have I had a Tarantula that went from the size of a quarter to a 5" legspan in litterly a matter of months. She's looking nice though! LOL

Very nice! What species of Poecilotheria is that? P. regalis? Have you had it sexed yet? With that kind of growth rate, it might be a male :( Pterinochilus and Ceratogyrus are more of my deal, but MAN! That Pokie is gorgeous

If your looking for a tarantula, but don't know :p...you should look into the Brachypelma sp. or Grammostola sp.. They're calm, beautiful, and very tractable to human interaction.................. The only downside is they grow sloooowwwww!

Well we will see about that! I would have my tarantual as a ''display'' pet not much of a playing pet lol.

If you want a gorgeous display tarantula, definitely go with a Brachypelma boehmi, or an Acanthoscurria geniculata. VERY impressive looking tarantulas, and very beautiful!

She looks more and more like she wants to eat your face! Lol But gorgeous!
My fav for beginners (or experts!) is the Brachypelma smithi...aka Mexican red knee...they're pretty, docile and slow! Except mine, who likes to flick butt hairs at me :frusty:

The growth rate is not unusual for a female either when it comes to pokes. They grow fast. If I remember correctly this one came from a contest on another now now existant site? If it is the one I am thining of, I still have some of its siblings. The females and males are about that same size. It actually looks female. The males and females start to look very different by that size. The female regalis start to take on the grey and black color while the males stay more of a brownish color. Also, looking at the folio (the white stripe on the opisthosoma) it looks female. Males usually keep the dark center while females typically turn white as they mature. You can only see a faint hint of the dark center again screaming female. Seeing the spemetheca on the next molt will be another way to be sure or you can take a good look at the ventral surface and see if it lacks the epiandrous fusillae. I'm guessing it will. So, I'd say female.

Well we'll sure check that out! Actually I think it's shed a couple times since this post, but she always destroys it before I can get to it by pushing it out the top of tunnel...LOL
You are right though, this is the one from the contest.
