LOL....not very likely man, to tell you the truth I rarely run into many issues....unless they come in messed up in some way.

I know just joking! Everyone can tell you have a top notch collection....unfortunaltey I have to make a trip to the vet tomorrow.

My Borneo Short-Tail Python is impacted I believe, I can feel the hard mass right in front of his bottom.

Poss. have to do surgery....wish me luck!!

WHOO HOOOO!!!!!

So I went to the vet today.

The X-ray showed he was very very backed up. Vet gave me some medicine, lactalose or something along those lines to give orally to rehydrated and soften the stool.

Well I have never had the pleasure of giving any of my snakes medicine let alone orally.

He was NOT having it...I have him by the neck/head and guess what it was enough to get him to poop/pass urate with the help of me helping it along.

12 inch poop and ROCK hard half dollar sized urates. I believe that is all that needs to be passed so needless to say I am so relieved!!

$171.00 to piss my snake off enough to let it rip....worth it in my book.

Lets hope all goes well from here. I will have a picture of the poop later

LOL....I don't think I've ever seen someone so happy to have thier snake let one loose! LOL Just kidd'n man.

I'm glad the issue resolved, impacts can be very serious if not rectified, there snakes that will die from that condition.

:D

Urates are sooo hard. Think I need to lower my temps, even though he was well hydrated it obviously wasn't enough.

Hmmmmm, Yeah temps could definitely make a big difference in keeping that problem form reoccuring. I know most of the bloods and borneos run quite a bit cooler than a lot of snakes.

Well at least everything came out okay in the end...so to speak. LOL

P.S
I just moved this to it's own dedicated thread since it no longer had anything to do with the mouth rot topic. No biggie!
Cheers!

Sorry about that! :yo: Thanks for splitting it.

Yeah I didn't realize that these guys needed it a little cooler than I expected. Lesson learned and a good one at that.

And of course the night wouldn't be complete without my burm peeing...so then I clean his cage put him back in and 20 minutes later a huge dump follows...take him out clean his cage and put him back. It's a routine for him.

In any event hopefully someone else can learn from this.

No problem on the post man, gotta earn my keep somehow around here. LOL

Yeah when first start reading up on Bloods and Borneos, I genuinely surprised at the temperature range, but at anyrate hopefully that'll take care of the problem!

Nice to hear he's doing well! Bloods can be serious poopers, and take quite a while to do it. I bet you don't need to get too concerned in the future if he develops urates like that again...my Borneo used to pass those all the time. Every time she went, actually. I hear from other blood owners that it can be common with them. However if they get really backed up it is always good to make sure there is not a compaction, so good work!

Thanks guys.

Robilyn are you sure urates like that can be normal?

I'm telling you they are rock hard and needed to be helped out of his cloaca.

i have to say robilyn hit it on the head my blood only goes maybe once a month or longer and when she does the urates are rock hard when the burms let go they are sometimes soft sometimes solid but still not rock hard although once they let loose they harden like cement but my blood well hers come out and go"CLINK" on the glass when they hit....:twitch:

Yup, like Juggalo says it seems to be a blood thing...I used to think mine would need help too, but I discovered she passes them fine on her own if I leave her long enough. Which is usually well over a month.

While working in a nursing home years ago I had to remove a fecal impaction and I don't remember it looking like that.
