i am going to get a burm here real soon and want a little info. now i have had burms before but always used galss tanks but i am going to give plastic a try and want to know a bit about heating them will flex tape work? and how would i use it? and do i need a light? the reason i am trying plastic is i have been doing a lot of reading and people dont seem to care for it cuz it dont hold heat and humid. good and well i noticed it dont aswell and plastic is so much cheaper lol but some heating ideas would be great i have done alot of reading as i said and to many people say alot of different things and well if you got some ideas on setting one up i am open to all comments on it right now as i am a bit lost with so much info and yes i am on a budget not a big one either lol so something to add heat and control it would be nice to know thanks ahead of time

Flex watt on a thermostat or rheostat will work just fine. You can also use heat cable. We have used both - we use flexwatt for our plastic cages and heat cable for our racks!

You want it under the tub not in it.

np - usually you stick it to the surface under the tub - I wouldn't tape it directly to the tub. Unless properly sealed - in the cage can cause problems if they spill their water bowl.

i went to the reptile show today in cleveland and got some flexwatt and well only one of them work i bought 2 2ft strips wired i also got a normal heat mat also just incase that happened also i did pick up 2 snakes while i was there and had to leave before i spent all my money lol just two normal snakes but so many really nice ones
now i want to ask how to i raise the temp in the plastic bin i have a heater in the room and it was around 70 when i put it in there and still a day latter it is in the 70s and the mats and heat tape stuff wont really raise the inside temp for me so what should i use to raise that temp i have been trying to find an answer to this and so far all i have seen was one guy cut holes in the lid and put some screen over it with a heat light above.i never did plastic always wood i can change with out it burning down the house or melting to add heat so i guess after all the typing here i just want to know how to heat them or if the belly heat is enough
also why would one of them not work (the flexwatt) i had it pluged in for like an hour and it was as cold as when i pluged it in but the other works just fine do you think the cord is no good anyway thanks ahead of time for takeing time to reply

My guess would be something is off with the wiring. You may want to double check to make sure everything is making a secure connection.
I would have to agree with Lori. Flexwatt is pretty good for working. It has to be with the way you connected it.
I have had my heat tape stop working. But, it was always the connection that needed to be redone.
If you are not really comfortable hooking up the flexwatt. You can buy the heat pads. & put them on the bottom of you cage, ( out side) get a cheap thermostat & you will be good to go.
I would get your snake warmer then 70 deg. That's just MI. Hope it helps.
