Ok here is the deal. Like I mentioned in the thread asking people about dwarf boas most members here know about my little guy Napoleon. I have a been keeping a little secret though.

We had intended on selling off his litter mates, I had even made a post about it on here. After looking at the boas and realizing how old they were we decided that would have been a BAD idea. While most of his other litter mates were normal size when born they stopped growing like normal boas. They all eat weekly some are even eating medium guinea pigs. The longest run we have had were one went off feed is 3-4 weeks. I am saying this so that everyone understands this is not a feeding issue.

We produced the litter here on 2/24/05. At this time we have 10 of the original litter left. This includes Napoleon, Lavern, and Shirley. While they may be the best looking boas of the group they are by far not the smallest.

I pulled weights on everyone a week or so ago and this is what we are looking at. All weights are in grams

Males are 680, 660, 610, and 455 (some of them are producing sperm plugs already)

Females are 1020, 765, 575, 510, 380, and 350

Both parents were normal sized boas. Unfortunalty we no longer have them so we can't produce another litter from the originals to see if this would have happened again. So it has been a matter of waiting until we can produce anything from these guys. Our first attempt will be next season so here is hoping that this pans out and we can start a line of good looking dwarf boas.

Thanks so am I. By next season they will be 4 so while they may not have the size of a standard boa before breeding they will have the age. With something like this it is hard to go by size.

Awesome!! Good luck with this!! I forget if you've ever mentioned but do you know the locality of the adults? Just asking because I was at Blake's this past week and he's got some incredible Mexican boas that had bred for him that were way smaller than I expected. Too cool guys!! BTW...put me on the list for one!!!!

No list needed. We arent even sure how this will go at this point but the bright side is if it works out and we manage to start producing them they will get listed here first.

We have a really crappy camera right now - but are upgrading - so within the next few weeks we should be able to get some new pics up of them.

Just an update on photos of the wee ones - we got the new camera but are moving. The new place will have a dedicated space for photography - so once we get all settled in, we get up some shots of these guys.
