These five are all I have left. Eighteen laid, ten slugs, three have gone nasty smelling and shriveling. These last five seem to be okay. I'm just hoping I can get them to the finish line!

Any of you more experienced folks see something here that I don't?

Kind of a bum deal on the clutch man, but hey if these make it look at as it'll be easier to house. I'm with Sam kind of hard to say without actually being there and seeing what's going on. Do they have enough ventilation? I ask because I see a lot of condensation on the sides....there should be enough airflow so the air doesn't get stagnant....one of the biggies that happens a lot to people incubating thier first clutch....humidity is important but airflow is also very important.

Those dark spots are almost transparent. Both of them candled good, but I guess I will just have to wait and see. They all feel really firm, even the darker areas on those two. I really hope they make it.

Thanks Sam!

The one with the 'nipple' or as we call it 'chicken end' they can go either way. We've had good babies come from those types. The kinda transparent spot doesn't appear to be a bad thing from looks alone. To me it looks like it should be ok bro. :)

That condensation you see is only on the fronts of the tubs, the back three sides are mostly dry. There is moisture on the lids of the tubs, but not dripping. I open the tubs and check the eggs at least twice a day, sometimes three times. That being said, the tubs are pretty tight. Any suggestions on getting more air moving?

The eggs were pretty dry when they first went into the tubs. These five are the ones that puffed back up and became firm. The ones that are gone continued to shrivel up and got stinky.

Thanks you sir.

I usually melt in a half dozen or so holes in each side with a soldering iron, helps regulate the airflow pretty well. I also keep a digital humidity gauge in my eggs it's a fine line of balance between the humidity and airflow sometimes takes a little tweeking to get it just right. Setup properly you should only have to check on your egg status once a week or so.

As you insinuated, setup has to be proper with any method. I dont use any airholes in the tubs myself. With having to get airflow 'just' right using that method. Since too much airflow causes evaporitive cooling on the surface of the egg that is in contact with the medium. So I used a tighter tub(similar to joels) to prevent this. And as Joel does as well, the eggs are checked at least once a day or two for air exchange, etc. :)

I've just found with burm eggs, too much airflow is a bad thing, lol. :peace:

Ahhhhh well that certainly could be, I've never bred burms, or tried to incubate burm eggs I was just recounting my experiences with eggs I have incubated from other species.

At anyrate Joel, listen to the Burm guys if they say you're on track, you're on track!

Hey Joel, If they candled good, and have made it this long I think you have a great shot. When I've had females lay mostly slugs I usually lose a higher percentage of the eggs that do look good often times. So, the three you lost probably weren't your fault either.

Good luck!
Ben

Thanks for the vote of confidence, bro! At this point only time will tell what's in store for the rest.
