There was a news report this weekend about a farmer shooting his wife.
In an interview, he said that they saw a deadly Eastern Brown and for fear of the safety of their children, they sent them into the house and he went to collect his gun. By the time he came back to where they saw the snake, it had long gone, so he and his wife went to look for it.
Without success they turned and walked back to the house with his wife in front. As he was walking he looked down and noticed that the snake was at his feet. He was a bit vague here, but he said that at that point the gun discharged, hitting his wife in the back, killing her instantly.
