yes or no? Blush has about a week or so to go before she should be laying eggs. and she seems really restless like she is looking for something usually at night. Since this is the first clutch that I have had to get ready for and with Chuck real busy and about to be deployed I am getting nervous. not even sure if she is suppose to be doing all that moving around. If you sugesst having a nesting box could someone tell me what I should make it out of.

I'm no Ball python breeding expert, but I had a pair in the store once and the female became gravid 3 times. I always kept a rubbermaid container in there with damp moss to help them durring shedding and everytime she laid it was in the box on the warm damp moss. Then I would move them to the incubator, though with her first clutch I let her incubate them herself since I wasn't prepared with an incubator and they all hatched just fine.... but I suggest the incubator if you have it available sice Balls come and go off the eggs frequently.

I have never used one. For my female balls that are breeding/gravid, I give them cypress mulch. They like to make big nests out of it themselves.

As shown...

I use nest boxes in my cages since my snakes have such large enclosures. I bought a couple of small cat litter pans, cut a hole in one end of one, turned it upside down on top of the other and used some small strong rope to tie the two together after poking holes in the lip on the sides. Then I filled it with damp moss.

If, like Ajballs, your enclosures are tubs, you probably won't need a nest box. But if there's lots of space in the cage, it might make your female feel a bit more secure if she has a place to "hide" when she gets ready to lay.

Good luck!
