So today was supposed to be a really exciting day...I had 6 new snakes coming in I have been waiting for(some being babies of my former snakes of mine) but between last night and today things haven't gone well. I lost my tiger het female last night who has been fighting for her life since the end of last June. She was just starting to get back on track, even took a really small rat on monday(albeit I put it in her mouth, but she took it down herself), just to find her dead after work last night. Its kind of been a long time coming so I was upset, but prepared. I made her a head stone and buried her under a tree out in the yard in a place I hope she would have liked(she loved the outdoors). Then as I am checking on my snakes that came in today I find out the vet who saved my old dog and helped out with the snakes(actually the vet that did surgery on Alice Cooper's Burm for us back in 2004) and our former snake rescue killed himself last night. Its a bit hard to swallow. He was an amazing vet and an interesting guy to say the least. He wasn't a real people person(nice enough, but was more liekly to strike up a conversation with your pet than you), but was absolutely incredible with animals. My dog hated going to the vet(my old dog) but she loved him and going there. Even the snakes seemed relaxed and comfortable around him. Its a sad day not only for all of us who knew him, but every animal under his care. So its really hard to be excited about these new babies with so much else going on. Dan M.
That really sucks man. I hope you find a bit of happiness in the new ones you are waiting on.

At the end of the day there isn't much one can do about it. Its the 1st snake I have lost in a couple years, but as I said I knew it was inevitable. She wasnt responding well to treatment and any time she improved, she only went right back to terrible within days. I just really thought she might pull through some how. Im just wondering what bad thing # three is.... they usually happen that way, and ive got two down, so the waiting game begins. Then new snakes are awesome...I got a pair of aussie waters, a pair of Retics het for albino, and a pair of pastel ceylonese, but like I said its a bit bittersweet. I'd trade all these new guys to have my little tiger girl back. She was just sooooo cool, not to mention the only retic that ever bit me lol, so there was a special bond there for that. Here she is last year before she got sick....

I am so sorry! I hope things turn back around for you. Good luck with the new snakes; hopefully caring for them will in some way get your mind off of the bad things and help focus on the good. Keep your chin up!
