So I was feeding my baby retics this morning, and I've got Jossie (JOH see), my new Columbian/Hogg boa, in the same kind of tub, piled up with the retics.

The breeder told me she'd been eating live and f/t hopper mice, but I thought I'd try an f/t rat pup with her.

I plopped one in her tub (after cleaning last night), and when I finished tossing an f/t rat pup in every retic tub, I checked back on her, not expecting anything to have happened, as none of the retics showed interest in their motionless next meal (side note= I don't know why anyone would start their babies on live without first trying f/t. It's easier, usually less expensive, and allows for fewer feeding problems down the road).

So, I picked up her tub, ready to pop the top off and try wiggling it (with tongs! With snakes all over my house, I'm always misplacing my one pair. After having my 7' normal burm, Samantha, latch onto my middle finger while I was trying to reposition her XXL rat, I dropped everything and found them!).
Lo & behold, she had her mouth WIIIIIDE open, and the rat pup was halfway down!!
Cool cool cool!!! :) Looks like I picked a winner!

Congrats man. Will you talk to my normal burm? He has an attitude when it comes to f/t. Snubs his nose at it. But little does he know, he had his last live the last time he eat. He will starve or eat f/t:dance:

Im going with holding back feed until I know he is hungry as hell. If that doesnt work im going to try the chicken broth trick. I will let you know how it goes.

We have never had a problem with the boas taking f/t or even had a problem with them taking different prey items. I was worried about all the snakes when all we could get for this months shipment from rodent pro was guinea pigs.
