June 5th is estimated hatch date. All are very dimpled, even after applying to wet towel as Deb stated to do. I know they are supposed to dimple but do they still look O.K.? I notice some soft wet looking spots on a couple. Hope the picture turns out alright. What does everyone think?

Well that certainly doesn't look quite right.
Feel anything moving around in them? If they are due on the 5th you should.

Man Brad, I just can't tell. They still have decent texture. Maybe a flashlight will work.

That's what I was about to suggest: candle them. You should see the baby inside moving around in there when the light hits them.

Got a small LED flashlight but doesn't work very well. I see red veins and pockets. There seems to be a mass on the bottom but the light won't penetrate enough to see definition or movement. Trying to get a hold of my Old Man to see if I can borrow his green laser. That might be enough to see.

Veins are good but I have to admit they do look more wrinkled than most of mine- the colour & texture of the shell looks okay otherwise... next time seal the top of the container that the eggs are in & it should work better. I'm betting you'll be hatching some babies soon though even with the wrinkles.

how have your temps been? - my first go with bps, I let the mom incubate and I think the spot she chose in the cage was too warm and they cooked - they looked similar to that - even down to the mass in the bottom and the veins. We finally cut them open to find mostly developed babies in a hard mass. Are they hard to the touch, or soft and kind of leathery? Don't want to be a downer here - and I hope that isn't the case for you!

Well I have never seen eggs dent in that much. How do they feel? Are they hard or soft?
If you are very concerned, since they are so close to the expected hatch date, you can cut them.

They feel hard and leathery. Think I should wait or cut them?

Temps are still 88.9 degrees. Hard to describe texture. Not soft but tough. I can still manipulate the shell if I press softly.

The 5th is only a few days away....at thise point I'd probably put a slit in one just see what's going on.

Well, I cut open the one in the front that looked somewhat bad. Looks like a healthy baby in there. Didn't move much but it is alive. Should I open the rest you think?

Well...if they are still alive...personally I'd leave them at this point and see. But you could slice them to make it easier on them....personal preference I suppose.

Sliced them. All are perfectly formed from what I can see. Don't want to mess with them too much to see if they are all moving. Few of them I could tell right away. Very relieved.

I'm very glad to hear that! Even if all of them didn't make it, you at least know for sure that some of them did, and that's better than the whole clutch going bad! Post some pics of the new babies once they emerge; I can't wait to see them!
