Hiya,
Well I knew when I got my new male that he was going to shed pretty soon and he has. But when I looked in on him this morning He had shed his belly and most of his front half. The second two thirds of his top did not shed at all. So I just did the same thing I did with my smaller boa. I put two socks on my hands and put him in the tub in warm water and let him crawl though my hands. The skin came right off. Question is. I have no idea of his care before I accquired him and what could have caused this? And what can I do besides the normal environmental controls to make sheds easier on my animals?

The only thing i can really think of is around the time its about to shed raise humidity by misting once or twice a day. Or you can stick something in there cage with a rough suface like a rock or a hide log. Other than that when ever mine have trouble i stickem in the tub and help them. Most shedding trouble comes from the humidity being to low or some just have a tough time shedding.

I do the same daily spraying once I see that they're going through the shed cycle. I also soak the snakes that are small enough for a while every other day when I know they're getting ready. I'm sure the reason it came off in pieces is just because of the move and uneven humidity.

If he's a fairly recent acquistion...stress alone can cause a poor shed.

My boa began shedding although I did not see much progress, then as I was sitting here reading threads and "wearing" her, she moved through my hands and some skin came off so I put her in a warm bath and used the two sock method that I read about above, that worked great. The only problem is that she has yet to shed her head. Also, there appears to be a scale over one eye that may have been left from the last time. It appears dry and cracked and I cannot seem to get it off, her eye is still moving underneath the scale. Any recommendations in case it does not come off with this shed?
Thank you.

Ok nevermind. Of course as I no sooner write my question and murphys law kicks in and she worked it off. Thank you all in advance, I love this site! I have yet to find another one this informative and complete.
