Hi,
I've been thinking and researching getting a ball python at some point, but haven't been able to find any information about what people do with their pythons when they are on "vacation." Obviously I'd have someone watch it if I were gone for more than a few days, but is it ok to leave by itself for say two days or so?

Thanks for your help! I'm trying to be as informed as possible!

i've taken a few little vacations since i got my boa, and he's done fine for a day or two, im sure they would do fine for longer, but you would probably want someone to change the water out

I just put my lights on timers. If its long enough I have friends who will feed and clean for me, but usually they can go a couple extra days if necessary. I am fortunate enough to have a guy in the area that boards snakes for $7 a day per snake plus food as an additional option.

Talk to friends find someone who is comfortable with spot cleaning, that is the most important part. Laying in feces or urine can cause disease and infection.

I left my snakes for a week to go for a trip and it was a disaster the person I told to look over my snakes dident even go into the room they had the heat lights on 24/7 for a week I was super pissed!!!!
But now I know to only leave the heat pads on ( I only use the heat lamps for my chondros, and my lizards ) I leave 2 water bowls one small under the heat pad for humidity and the other is a regualr bowl for drinking and soaking. Other then that their fine. As long as you dont have lizards no need to worry about travleing ( unless its more then a week then you need a sitter )

As stated these are probably on of the easier things to "leave" for vacation.

With digital lighting timers or even a thermostat setup you could leave for a few days and not have anything to worry about.

I do have a friend of mine check on things every once in awhile just to make sure everything is going well, and fill up water dishes.

Thanks everyone! That was what I was hoping to hear!! :)

I'm working on convincing my hubby that he wants a snake, but he likes to go backpacking... so being able to leave it while we're on trips will be great for swaying him to my side!! :p

We Just got home from a fishing trip I made sure on Thursday that they all had full water dishes and fed the ones that needed to be fed. When I got home on Sunday I checked thier water dishes and spot cleaned the cages they all seemed to be doing great. Last year when I had just one snake we took her to the lake with us but now that there are 6 snakes we couldn't take all the enclosures with us.

I was just gone for three weeks and have 50+ snakes. My girl looked in on them and a friend came over once a week to clean 'em. All did really well....one even gave birth two days after I got back!!!
