I have a question. I have a RTB I picked up on MAy 30th. I don't know the exact age but she was young. She weighed in at 66 grams. She did regurge once on June 14th so natuarly she didnt get feed for a while. She looks healthy and has a great feed responce, she eats pinky rats that weigh 8 grams on average. Its October22nd and she only weighs 72 grams now. Any suggestions on what might be going on? I keep great records, I can even tell you everytime she pooed if you want so if you need more info please let me know. Thanks

My burms doo doo weighs more than the RTB. (not that I weigh the poo). If all 4 of my burms pooed on the little thing it would kill it.:D

Was she cb or wc? There may be a problem with internal parasites.
She could also just be a runt. We have a columbian here that is a little guy compared to his sibs.

I want to say CB but with the store I got her from there is no telling. Im not real happy with them and I let them know it. The first rtb I got from them died within 2 weeks so this one is a replacement.

May be a parasite issue then. Could also be genetic but the regurg thing makes me think more along the lines of parasites.

Guess a vet visit is i order. The vet up here is outrages for pricing though.

I'm inclined to agree, a vet visit would be in order, You could give a precautionary treatment of Pancur, sounds to me (from what you said about your shop) like she could be an import.
One other question, is this a BCC or BCI Boa we are talking about?

Im going to call the shop and ask for sure but I dont think they have the mental capacity to know if it was WC or CB.

She is a BCI

If the shop is as bad as you made it seem. He might just be telling you what you want to hear. We have had that happen more than once.

A trip to the vet may be a good idea.

Well hmmmm, shouldn't have have intestinal issues then....how odd.

Just out of curiosity what are you running your cage temps at? I know you know how take of snakes and all I'm just wondering.

I usually run my younger boas at about 86-87 coolside for the first couple years of thier life keeps thier metabolism running on the high side.....something you could try.

That's true too, just bringing in a stool sample to have it tested would probably help a lot, least you could rule out the internal parasites for being a problem.

We have an appointment for wed. so we will find out then. I just dont want anything spreading through my collection. 10 snakes to a vet will cause me to have to take out a loan. lol

I have very good husbandry habits and my "snake room" is kept very clean and I use AP cages and hand sanatizer between each animal so hopefully that will kept any spreading down

Sounds like a plan man, you'll have to let us know what they find out.....hopefully she dumps a load before then. LOL

I use a temp gun to double check my temps. I am running the cages at 90 on the hot side 95 on the basking shelf on the hot side and 85-88 depending on what part of the cage we are talking about on the cool side. She likes to stay in the middle under the branches she has. She might just be a runt or her growth stunted from the regurge. Everything about her looks healthy and normal other than she is about 8 mo and only 72 grams

Looks like you got a nice wide range of temps available so that shouldn't be an issue, I was just wondering what the backround air temp was which would your 85 degrees since that is the lowest one you came up with....but looks like everything is in range.

Being a runt is definitely possible, I don't think she's stunted from only only 1 regurge though, it takes months of not feeding or feeding much smaller meals to actually stunt a snake.....guess if she looks healthy and everything and size is your only concern I wouldn't worry about to much. Though the stool sample/vet check is still a good idea, just to lay that one to rest.

Yea, still going to the vet. I dont feed her to large meals because she seems fragile. My burms would eat a car if I let them but these rtb's seems finicy about there meal size so mabey I am just being a bit to careful

I don't know, my brother-in-law got a bearded dragon that I know was captive bred and it had coccidia. It's possible.

i have a female bci that i had a problem with her growth. i thought it was parasites. i went through anything a vet could do for her and nothing came up and she is perfectly healthy. now she's 4ft and 4 yrs old. just a small boa but she just hit a growth spurt and is growing really fast now. so she could just be a runt or a slow grower. but hopefully nothing serious. whish ya luck.
