Affectionately called the "Red Devil" LOL

This is a Gen2 style hook with a damn niffty coating! As you can see in the top pic in a low light situation it's a very dark red almost black...but put it in a high level light situation and the flames of hell seem to dance along the shaft!

Absolutely STUNNNING! The coating seems fairly resilant too, I would put it at about a Medium in holding up against getting dinged....which is pretty decent for the effect that casts.

Thanks Guys!

Ya know....I just may be able too! I know it adheres very well to aluminum (a feat in and of itself) I can certainly try it on the shafts of the other stuff...I've got some scrap in the shop so tell ya what, I'll coat a piece up and let you know in a few days....it takes like 3 days for this stuff to fully cure and about 19 coats to pull off the effect..LOL But I'll try it man and see if it sticks!

are you gonna sell these dude? and how much would they cost for one, i mean, 19 coats sounds pretty crazy, how long does it take u to do 19 coats, by the way, that hook looks awesome

LOL....everything is for sale! LOL

I'm not gonna lie, the coating is a pretty long and drawn out process....but I was thinking depending on the length of the shaft basically this would be an Add-on option for any of the aluminum shaft styles (Gen2) So it would be the base price of the hook plus $20 +/- depending on the length of shaft. Also there will be a minimum 2 week lagtime on these as I want to make sure they are fully cured before sending them out.

LOL..thanks man, yeah I did the hookend as well on this one....but if I was going to do it again I think I'll use the Black Anodized for the hookend....not sure this type of coating will tolerate being dragged through substrate and banged around on cage furniture ect.

ill take 2 lol

Soon as the check clears! LOL

Thanks everyone.

I tried this off Orange, Copper color and wasn't very impressed I could take some shots of the sample piece if you were interested?

There is also a Midnight Purple available....which I think would look neat has hell, but I haven't tried that one yet (Have to wait and see if the any of the ladies are interested in that one) LOL

Update on "Will this work with the Monster Hooks"

Yes and No...LOL It works (effect wise) but it doesn't hold up very well to any kind of dinging around (even with an ungoddly amount coats) Something about Galvanized stuff it just doesn't like to play nice, even after surfacing it.

At anyrate a post thought after I was done testing it would be possible to do this coating then use a clear PVC heat treat (much like the colored stuff - Only Clear) to protect the coating. Downside it would up the cost by about double of what I asking for the aluminum shafts.

On a side note I tried this on stainless steel scrap for fun...it worked great on that! LOL

So there you have it.

Yeah man, sorry about that....like I said I could still make it work....but it's not all that cost effective....guess it depends on how much you really like it..LOL
