I was reading the another post that "Panacure" came up. It got me to thinking. (Not always a good thing) Anyway, I have 2 burms that eat only once in a while and a blood python that hasnt eaten since we got him and we nothiced he is bloated now. My question is, is it a bad idea to try panacure. My main concern is the blood, being that he hasnt eaten and is now bloated. The breeder told me he was eating hopper mice but he has yet to show any interest. He temps are correct and he is in a low traffic area. The burms are prob just being stubborn and only want live mice. For some reason they will eat live mice. Both will eat f/t chicken sometimes but not offten. One will rarely eat a f/t rat.
THOUGHTS?

Pancur is a pretty low profile anti-parasite medication....you really shouldn't have to worry about using it with CB stuff unless you feed a lot of Live prey that comes from questional sources, for example my female Indo tree boa would only eat live lizards and frogs at the start....live and usually wild caught so precautionary doses where needed.
In the case of your blood, I can't remember was it CB? If not (or was Farmed or WC) the bloated look could very well be to parasite load in which case dosing it would not be a bad idea....if you want to be sure about it before dosing you should take a fecal in (I know that could be a problem with these because the deficate infrequently and since yours in running on empty it's not helping any.)
Anyway those would be thoughts..LOL

I agree with Brad - though if you are concerned a round of it won't hurt them even if they don't have parasites.
Often times its just a particular burm that has feeidng issues. I believe its just their make-up or something internal just isn't as most burms systems are. Many high strung or nervous burms dont eat consistantly. But as stated, give the panacur a run and see what happens. Otherwise I'd try all the options on cage set-up in case its a security issue or something of teh like. Sometimes, temps can be a deal. I haven't found that to be the case often(one liking slightly higher or lower temps). I just think some burms are basically 'weird' or 'oddballs' in comparison to the average burm and their tendancies.

Neither one is high strung. They are both laid back babies. One wil strike a rat and coil but will not eat it. She laeves it after it is "dead". They are both in AP cages with perfect temps and humidity. Both have hides, one uses it and the other doesnt. I will go with the weird or oddball thoery. LOL Thanks
