Stumbled across that awhile back. It's an excellent guide. When I finish building mine I'll post pictures.

I already built one with ideas from that site...
One thing for you guys to consider is putting the heat tape on the bottom. heat naturally rises. Per a couple of conversations with Bebo, that is what I did. placing the FW on a back wall, or side wall will put heat too close to the tubs, especially when using large tubs. Too much risk of overheating the eggs
I put 3 ft of FW on the bottom kind of in a "U" shape.

I set the thermostat at 89. Took some messing with tstat probe, and fan placement but I got it down to where it holds consistant temps throughout.
Fan placement is key as to how well it holds temps.
If you dont have proper fan placement you will get hot/cool spots within the incubator.

I just throw my eggs up on the shelf in the snake room....LOL

How well do you think A heat panel on the bottom would work?

One of them....LOL There's an upper shelf where the temps are just perfect for most the US species.

You can really use any heat source as long as there is enough air movement to keep the temps stable, I actually built an incubater about 8 years ago that was run on a 60 watt red heat bulb...worked perfectly.

Cool. I use 100 watt heat panels in all my AP's and love them. They dont get to hot to the touch and heat very nice.

Yup, they should produce a nice even heat for ya.

I tried heat panels in my incubator last year. So far they work fine.
