Recently I moved my male into an 8' x 2' cage. It seems ever since doing so he has been having trouble shedding. He is currently in his 3rd bad shed and when I finally finish getting all the skin off of him I'll have removed over half by hand. I thought maybe humidity was a problem (even though the cage maintains 50-60%) and raised his humidity and no luck. I guess here comes my real question.
I have heard of giving them a brick to rub against is this dangerous? I obviously would only use it during shed but I still fear scale or nose damage. I would appreciate any other suggestions or advice!

mine normally use there bowl or the side of their cage. But if you wanted to add a brick or a decrotive rock or something I am sure the snake would be fine it would be no worse than something they would rub up against in the wild.
Our retic get's a stick and a couple rocks and he does just fine.

Guess I'll have to give it a try next shed.
This evening he's going to get a long bath and I'll have to finish it for him. Hopefully things improve soon!

my burm had the same shedding problems as you my friend, here is the solution, go to meijers buy vics cool vapor mist thing with the round whole, plumb it to your cage, buy a 24 hour timer there 5.00 then you can have it go off and on ever couple hours i had mine go every hour for 15 min the week they are in shed, now she has perfect full length sheds.
total cost
vics cool vapor mist 44.00
pvc cheap
total cost around 50-60 dollars
having a happy snake priceless

Or a good size chunk of wood ancored to the cage wall works well too.

There could be adequate humidity in the air, but if you have too much ventilatioin/airflow in the cage you can still get stuck sheds. The airflow drys the soon to be shed skin. Then the fun part come sof finding what is enough ventilation and not enough, lol. But I'm sure you'll get it straightened out. :)
