NARBC Tinley Park

Who's heading up there? Just over two months away. I only live 15 minutes away. It's a pretty good sized show, similar to Arlington, nothing like Daytona. My only dislikes is that there are a bunch of people who bring their children and baby strollers because kids under 5 are free. And there are a lot of low-ballers. I'm always there all three days. Friday to Sunday. From Set-Up to Tear-Down. It's October 11-12 this year.

Better book in advance. Like NOW! Hotels and motels are usually booked within miles of the convention center.

I like the Shedd Aquarium. The Field Museum is alright. Both petty cool places.

Lincon Park Zoo is small. Very small! But it's free.

Brookfield Zoo is a lot bigger. I think that's where they shot that one scene from the movie 'Baby's Day Out'. A lot of cool stuff there. I wish their reptile house was bigger though.

Never been to the Field Museum but it doesn't interest me much. I enjoyed Lincoln Park my last time through and being from a free zoo, it's always nice to go to other free zoos. I've got friends at the Shedd and Brookfield so hopefully I can get some "bonuses" if I go to them. Last I heard, Brookfield's herp building is actually closed. I believe they will have a new one in the future.

Yah i cant wait till Tinley this year..Im hoping my buddy might need some help working his booth, so i can give him a hand and be there the whole weekend. It is going ot be a blast, not sure if im picking up anything or not...Also brookfield zoo is where its at. I live 5 min from there and it is sooooo much better then lincoln park. The actual reptile house is closed last time i was there, but most of the reptiles are in the bird house. Also i havent been to the Shedd aquarium in a while, but I have been dieing to check out there lizard exhibit. I mean they got a komodo and croc monitor, im totally gonna go in the near future.

I will be at the show both days and will also be staying in the holiday inn. I can't wait. Not sure if I will have much cash on hand to be picking anything up, but it will be a great trip anyway.

That's hell! Trust me, been doing it the past three years. You start to look forward to the show being over. And the hours pass much slower when you're behind the table.

I checked out this really small zoo in Orlando when I was at Daytona. They had a pretty kick ass croc monitor exhibit. I think they're were two juvie's in there.

I snapped one picture of the Sun rise Saturday morning after the storm cleared. That was it. I like to carry my camera around, but for some reason I don't take pictures.

One of my buddies it going to try and get married up in Maine next Sept/Oct... I'm going to try to talk him into doing the weekend before or after Tinley lol. Then I could just make a week long northern exposure trip out of it. Which would be cool, then again if he doesn't do it on one of those weekends it would be harder to get up there again. We will see though, before too long for sure.

Me and a few friends/members are probably going to meet up at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast before the doors open Saturday.

Strange feeling for me... I'm used to having a vendor pass and setting up Friday and being there the entire show.

I keep hearing how cool the auction is and how awesome the deals can be... having said that, we tried to do it like two years ago and it was really full, nowhere to sit, and we stayed for maybe 10 minutes. I'm interested in staying this year and checking it out.

So anyone on the forum who wants to meet up should attend one of the talks. I plan on going to the tarantula talk, Bill and Bruce know their stuff! It takes place at 1pm on Saturday in the conference room out front. That is if we haven't met up already...
