Last night my big female water monitor passed away. She had become egg bound, with only five small eggs, and the ones furthest up in the body turned sepsis. I had suspected she was gravid and gave her a nest box with a mix of peat moss, sand, and leaves. The temps were between 86 - 88 degrees with a 75% - 65% humidity. She didn't use the next box at all. Regardless of what I did it didn't matter.
Today is a very sad day and I am done. Just done.
I am keeping the monitors I have but this has sealed the deal with me getting rid of the snakes (except venomous and maybe two of the pythons). I am not going to take in anything new unless it's serious divine intervention. I don't really know. The guilt I feel is just amazing not to mention the grief. :frown:
RIP my big baby girl. Thank you for being apart of my life. :(
